» Feels Like Home......
Brother Ken
Posted April 27, 2012 by Brother Ken in Meditations
My wife introduced me to the amazing love song "Feels Like Home' and it was one of those 'instant gold classics' for me. Then, when I looked it up on YouTube, I remembered the first time I heard it, from the beautiful love story captured in "The Notebook" movie. I was thankful I loved the song before I saw the movie video, as I formed my own deeper applications without the scenes from the movie burning in my head when I listened to the powerful lyrics, vocals and meaning. But now, I also have have another way to love the song, from loving the movie.

Here are the lyrics that say so much:

"Feels Like Home"

Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

The beautiful thing about God, as God is understood by the majority of all peoples in the world, is that of love--of divine love, unconditional love, accepting us right where we're at and bringing us to where we should be and empowered to grow into. The beautiful things about the best love songs is that our understanding of God, the Divine, or that power greater than ourselves can often be applied to that Divine Lover, even as that divine love flows through us to another.

Blessings on our day...........Ken.

postscript: I will download the video song on this site.

This song has always been a favorite of mine. I have not seen the notebook but I imagine the song is very fitting in the movie. The lyrics exemplify how meaningful love can be, from other humans as well as a spiritual being. Good Post!

Thanks Chealsea. The movie is a very passionate love/life story, weaving the realities also of older age.

Beautiful thing about God indeed, regardless of creed or thought. Unfortunately many people have their views of their loving God to be offensive or violent at times.

Thanks Herschel! I agree. Without trying to judge others spirituality, it seems as some want to make 'God' in their own image, rather than sure ending to that transformative process where our Loving God continues to make us in IT'S IMAGE.

Bless Your Day & Weekend!
