Sheila Shuster
Posted February 8, 2012 by Sheila Shuster in Meditations
I've been out of the country since December and out of touch with anything that is not right in front of me. Living without familiar distractions, it is easier to see that the only differences among us come from our perceptions. You can see it too, but first treat yourself to a little space. Turn down the volume on everything that comes your way. Drop most of what you think is so important to have, know or do. Let go of all that and watch as your view of the world changes. For one thing, that stranger over there is you, and you are him.

I agree, Allen, it only takes one to get the ball rolling...

I know what you mean, Stormie, but I was surprised to find out, a few years ago, how much silence there is beneath all sounds, no matter where you are!

Actually it's quite easy, and you get MORE done when you do less. Sounds weird, huh? I don't mean to imply that you remain motionless and unproductive. You just interrupt the traffic in your mind. You slow down, pay attention and avoid doings things simply as a means to get them done. Yes, Herschel, it has a lot to do with watching without getting caught up in what we think about it. Just notice a circumstance and see what happens next, including our open-minded participation and non-judgemental action within it.

nice reminder, thanks....Yes, the 'S-Words' of 'Solitude' 'Simplicity' 'Surrender' and so much more.....'Be still and know...." or, "Don't just do something, stand there.' We get so busy we 'miss the mystery'.......I know I often do...but I am learning and growing......

..Peace, Ken

If people would stop and drop what they did to see the world turn, maybe it would be less chaotic...or at least for a small population.

I want to get out of the country and just get away. Away from all the noises of life.

I guess stopping and people watching would be a nice thing to do. I'll probably do that next time I'm in the busy section of Albuquerque

I wish I had the luxury of dropping the most important things just to watch the world go on. Though, I don't think my boss would think the same like that.

Almost like "stop and smell the roses", "stop the world I wanna get off", basically stop everything and watch the world for what it is without being a full part of it, right?
