A New Age of Vision by J. Craig Woods

Were the early Church Fathers able to capture the truth as expressed by Jesus Christ in His Gospel to man, and has the Christian Religion remained true to its Founder's intent? This book is my effort to take us on a personal journey to find the truth in the message of Jesus Christ. The Christ message was given to all of humanity, and we all possess the capacity to learn this message. His message was never intended to be in the sole domain of only a few middle-men. This book is my attempt to reveal the truth and the wisdom of the Christ message. Due to the social and political considerations that motivated the Church Fathers, the early Church was unable to capture the real truth of Christ in their formulation of Christian theology. If we are to experience the truth of Jesus Christ, we must re-visit the actual words of Jesus Christ to apprehend His message. It is my hope that we will investigate His message as though we are spiritual archeologists, digging for the truth that has remained buried under two-thousand years of obfuscation.

With the coming of “A New Age of Vision,” it is our time to understand the true meaning of Christianity. We will investigate the Christ message by utilizing the canonical gospels to explore the words of Jesus Christ. We will also refer to other Christian gospels that were very popular amongst the early Christians but, due to social and political conditions, these Christian gospels were not allowed into the New Testament Canon. We will further explore other ancient texts that were influential in the early development of Christian theology such as The Corpus Hermeticum. Our journey will take us to unexpected and exciting insights. We shall discover why our religious institutions are failing us. The truth, as expressed in the Christ message, is to be found in the words of Jesus Christ. This truth was lost by creating the abstruse creeds and complicated doctrines by the early Church in their attempts to establish and project their authority over all other religious and political institutions.

True Christianity has yet to appear. It is our responsibility, as individuals, to discover the new reality of Christian brotherhood, and it will be our task to practice what we learn. True Christianity is universal brotherhood, and the words of Jesus Christ, as recorded in both canonical and non-canonical sources, will be used as our spiritual road map. In the early years, after the death of Jesus Christ, men created the Christian Religion, and this creation has resulted in the Christian institutions that we experience today. Unfortunately, we have inherited “churchianity.” And Christianity is yet to be discovered.

This is to be our spiritual journey in finding the truth in the Christ message. It is our journey home, showing us the path to our Spiritual Garden of Eden. This is the truth of Jesus Christ, and He did not intend that this truth be locked away by men who were mainly interested in the growth of ecclesiastical power. The Christ message belongs to all of us, and it is our responsibility to understand this truth. The future is ours, and “A New Age of Vision” awaits us.

Doesn't it worry you that when "true Christianity" comes into view, people are going to say "that isn't the real thing"?

True Christianity will come when we are ready to accept the message of love. This kind of love is unconditional and non-self-centered. It can not be faked, and we will know it by the universal peace it brings.

I do not necessarily believe Christ's word to be truth, but I do believe it be informative and thought provoking. Unfortunately I agree that the words of christ like most things in our history have been distorted with time and are not 100% accurate.

I am curious if there are any religions or teachings of christ that you believe are more accurate than others?

Only His message of love. The rest is man-made religion.

Can't expect anything to be completely accurate after that much time being passed from generation to generation. Reminds me of playing the telephone game as a kid, where one person would start by passing a message down a line and by the time it got the end of the line the message was completely different than what was originally said.
