Rachel Lee

"The only real failure is the failure to grow from what we go through"...Marianne Williamson

I have had some pretty big failures in my past. Relationship failures, failures on the job, and failed attempts at friendships. Who hasn't? And I am sure I will have more. That's just life. One thing I have learned through "failure" is to give myself some credit for not just living through it but learning from it. Each failure has the potential to be a learning event or even a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Each broken heart can be mended, if allowed, and opened again to further or greater love.

An employment "failure" can be your next stepping stone on your "life path". Whatever the situation is, it gives us an opportunity to reach within ourselves and find the love, strength or patience to, not just survive, but to thrive.

I guess another way to put it is not to see ourselves as failures. Those are just events that happened. But to see ourselves as the beings made in "God's Image" with all of the infinite potential bestowed upon us. It may require a shift in thinking but that's just part of growing.

Namaste

My father said this "failure is like death, it's only a stop before you go to something to something even better".

I think failure gives us the opportunity to better ourselves because we know that can do better than what we gave.

Failure is something we can learn from. While I like winning, I guess I can't really grow without losing every once in a while.

Yes......so true....Thanks Rachel....I've always loved Henri Nouwen's phrase, "The walking wounded have become the wounded healers." The heart of my heart is related to what you write, learning from failure....I love that the Creator takes all the broken pieces we are willing and able to give, and makes a new creation, something we could never be without going through our failures, or stepping stones as you wrote.

Making something new from something broken. Making something better from a loss. In a sense, right?
