» The New Belief System Of Do-Be-Do-Be-Do-Be

It's like a song you just can't get out of your head, this new Do-Be_Do-Be way of looking at everything. It's so natural and customized for each point of view. Let's have a look.

It's named after the Life Process to which we adhere. First we jump in and DO. Then we're OK to BE for a bit. That's it. Over and over.

For our D0-Be Examination, if you'd like, let's begin with the DO Part. It should be the other way around [first, silently picture the goal achieved, then move forward], but probably not the first choice in ths built-for-action culture. Both will get you where you want to go.

So, we'll start with the menu choice "Do," please. We learn everything by DOing. By and by, one of the things you learn is that life doesn't work very well by merely DOing. There's gotta be more than that; by itself, not enough.

Doing, doing, doing, it sure keeps you busy all the time. Activity, doing, when done for the sake of itself, begets more empty DOing and the list of tasks has no limit. You can keep busy, doing, isolate yourself to the brink of aching lonliness, even run yourself ragged, and ultimately wonder what it's all about.

Many, searching for an answer to the disappointing results of confining all our undertakings to DOING will discover the nourishing Power of BEING.

Self luminescent BEING glows just within, prior to thought and on the unfolding edge of knowing.

"Ah!" exclaims the Mind, "So THAT'S what it meant in the scriptures when they said 'Be still and know...' Wow! There must be tons of secrets buried just beneath the surface in that old tome!"

Must BE. For now, just be.

Being is prior to thinking about anything, especially the notion of being. Real being is awareness in and of the present, never reflecting on the past. Be here,

"So," the Mind continues,"the new thing is to just BE?"

Right, shh-hh-hh. Turn away from the Thought Machine as often as you can. None of the questions pertain to the Present. Next, that mind-posing-as-persons will be creating a fictional gulf between here and There by "figuring out how to get "there" from here when all is here and now already.

Instead of putting words to the experience, just be aware. Witness the wisdom that flows from the silent heart of awareness, as you arrive without a heart full of answers, uncovering real truths to BE realized! Such a wealth of genuine understanding and knowledge. And it was there all the time.

A thought crosses: "What will we do with all this newfound accuracy and these rediscovered, higher principles? Oh, wait! That's Old Thinking - 'What do we DO' - I get it, sorry." As the though disintegrates, one beholds the thing called "ego" and its constantly changing nature.

Still, it's hard to just sit here with all this pure energy, this bounty, and keep it all to ourself. It seems so worth sharing. Even if sharing falls under the heading "Doing."

Well, good news. BEING is not exclusive to DOING. We are wired to engage in both. Just bring your awareness to the goings on.

In the Higher Spectrum of Being, there is still a place for doing, always will be. They work hand-in-hand. It's all in the way you perceive it.

The change in perspective sees you doing for others, and for Divine Design, rather than for Smaller You. What if what you 'did' was share the knowledge? It is said one transforms the weight of knowledge into weightless wisdom through action. Well, isn't the action of teaching, sharing, enlightening a form of DOING? Of course it is.

Dabble in both, I did. still do. Keeping a Sense of Presence, go ahead and involve yourself in any activity. Feel free to DO.

As much as you can, do for others, do for your always Present Higher Guidance. It's way different from the old patterns of doing, usually serving your smaller sense of self.

And, honoring the Whence from which such High Inspiration came, remember to replenish as often as possible. Regularly get off the wheel of DOING and return to BEING. Make that a constant in your life. Many times daily, return to your heart, and Sense Of Self, and just BE there. Great things are possible when keeping company with your Higher Self. Do this Stop And Power Up Process until it becomes natural for you to BE while DOING. And it will.

The inclusive view sees there are both modes, Being and Doing, and that one can use them together as Inner Power Tools. For a balanced, evolved being - BE. Then DO. Then back to Be, and from there, Do again. And so we go.

Do, Be, Do, Be, Do Be. Catchy.

Doing can be an escape from being, but it doesn't mean it is a good thing.

I find myself really having to focus if I want to be in the present, because by the time you realize the present it is already the past.

It's difficult trying to fit imagined forms of self through differently shaped perspectives, isn't it, Jack? Too limiting.

Try the Let It Be Precept; movement without all that weight:
Free yourself of all your words, notions and labels then earnestly ask, "Who is trying to focus on the Present?" The answerer is usually ego, or who you think you are, trying to say, "me," AND simultaneously, mentally attempting to assume your identity.

However...

In the split-second, moving moment you are realizing this, you may catch a glimpse of Real You, who most certainly knows who you are not.

And you are unlimited, free.

Eternal You is inside - somewhere, and all at once - in what may be referred to as "Living Awareness Of."

One can never "get there," because the moment Now is characterized by continuity, apparently moving into "the Past" all the time. As soon as you might arrive, the very destination has slipped away.

Not to mention, you're already Here, anyway. And I, for one, am glad you are.

So, we eventually adopt a higher way of seeing All-At-Once, Now-In-Motion, and, with it, a fluid manner of 'letting it flow.' Relieved from Doing anything, we're back at Being, which, in synchronous agreement with Space and Time, appears to be traveling, through the Infinite Waves of Life.

Happy Surfing!

Doing and Being do seem to overlap and get confusing. Knowing the difference and being present in both doing and being is something we all probably need to work on.

When I practice yoga we are always reminded to 'be' in the moment.
